after the rain
Between storms the rain lifted long enough and the light was perfect. I grabbed the camera and spent a couple of hours out in the garden where the lilies were in full bloom. Then the sky turned green and the squall passed over. I love big storms...

Lewis Black and I
We got to the Paramount fairly early, around 7 (the show started at 8), and saw his bus parked on the side of the building. We headed over just to take a look and hung out on the bench next to the back door to kill time. We didn't think we'd see him as we figured he was inside already getting ready for the show, but around 7:15 Matty spotted him and John Bowman coming around the corner of 9th and Pike...and they were heading our way! He stopped to sign a photo for another fan while I fumbled to pull my camera from my pocket, and after he was done signing I approached and asked him for a photo together.
He was very gracious while I rambled on about how much he made me laugh and then I asked if he would sign my concert ticket and he did. Then he shook Matty's hand, smiled at Jenny (who was sitting with us), and then off they went towards the bus. I don't know if anyone else spotted them but afterwards we watched people passing the bus, looking around, and then walk on. We were so lucky to be in the right place at the right time considering there was no meet and greet (which I know of) for the fans after the show.

J and I
We said goodbye this morning, and I have to admit how much I'm going to miss having her here.
So here's to the Olive Garden, Death Cab, Zoolander, endless Izzard quotes, illusions, ass cracks and basketballs, the great city of Seattle, Gyrocery, Big Time, strawberry cheesecake ice cream, Hot Fuzz, the Fratellis, Bill Murray, UW, Fremont, coffee shops, Blue Moon Ghetto, street kids begging for money and smokes, smelly guys on the bus, memories made which can never be forgotten, and Omaha - where we met, lived, and subsequently fled within a year of each other.
I'll miss ya, J.

Thumbs up :D
It's Solstice time again! We'd talked about it over the past year, and after she finished finals but before she went home to the great frozen tundra, she did it!
I am not as brave and just helped paint and then stood back with the camera (as per the norm). But she said riding in the Solstice Parade was a great adventure and it's something neither of us will soon forget :)

Latourell Falls
During our Oregon trip we stopped off along the Columbia River Gorge to look at the waterfalls. This time we headed in a different direction which took by Bridal Veil and Latourell Falls, and then up to the Vista House. I can't say enough good things about the drive and view in this region but they're a must see if you find yourself in the area. If you're going with the intent of photographing the falls try to go later in the afternoon when the sun is behind the falls area (just FYI).

Oregon Coast
Vacation! My first total week off in years. Six years maybe? But I digress...we stayed for a couple of nights in Seaside - took a helicopter ride around Cannon Beach/Seaside, watched the sun set off the viewpoint in Ecola Park. It was such a lovely time...
