A short getaway was needed after another long week. Today we drove up to the mountain and took a walk around the Trail of the Shadows loop @ Longmire. There was more snow on the ground this time up than there was in January (last time we didn’t even hit slush until the bridge crossing the Nisqually glacier!). We had a nice walk – saw some deer and ducks, and found signs of beaver in the area. Nothing better than fresh mountain air for clearing the mind.

My hiking buddy (and all around good friend) Mary and I drove out to Lake Cushman today to hike the Staircase Rapids Trail. It was a beautiful, sunny, warm spring day – a perfect day for getting outside and soaking up the scenery.
