A short getaway was needed after another long week. Today we drove up to the mountain and took a walk around the Trail of the Shadows loop @ Longmire. There was more snow on the ground this time up than there was in January (last time we didn’t even hit slush until the bridge crossing the Nisqually glacier!). We had a nice walk – saw some deer and ducks, and found signs of beaver in the area. Nothing better than fresh mountain air for clearing the mind.

Matty and I spent the day @ Mt. Rainier – our first trip up in 2010. I was surprised how far up we got (the bridge over the Nisqually glacier valley) before we found a good amount of snow. Afterwards we stopped in at Copper Creek In and picked up a blackberry pie
