Other years I’ve hesitated, but not this time. For the first time in years I am not ashamed of the choice the majority of my country made. I’m exhilarated!

I don’t know what the next four years will bring but right now I want to believe that hope is possible, that we can heal after what we’ve endured for past eight years, and that we’ll get back on track as a nation.

I’m so proud to be part of history. I’m proud of my mom and my brother-in-law, my friends…and everyone who made this night happen. We did it!

Steps to taking a “meh” lunar eclipse photo:

1. Absolutely do not buy that 500mm lens at the local camera shop. You know, the one that was on sale? You’ll never need it.

2. Don’t plan ahead. Leave your tripod in your husband’s car knowing full well he won’t be home until after the height of the eclipse is over.

3. Don’t charge your main or spare batteries. Power to the camera is soooo overrated.

4. Pick a vantage point heavily populated with power lines and lots of traffic.

Oh well…only 2 years ’til the next one? :)

I entered a few photos in the Southwest Washington fair and one of them won a blue ribbon. A few weeks later I received my “winnings” in the mail ;)
