This photo wasn’t taken by me (instead it is of me); it was taken by my friend Mary during our recent Naches Peak hike at Mt. Rainier. I love this photo for so many reasons, but mostly because it sums up so much about my personal journey in life.
So it’s been a week since the big “S”, and I can finally get myself out of bed without help
That’s progress.
I actually started feeling much better on Friday. The incision still reminds me it’s there when I stand up too quickly but other than that I’m pretty much back to my old self again. I got lots of rest, caught up on movies (and Season 3 of Weeds), and finally got all my photos and crap backed up.
Back to work tomorrow…same as it ever was.
So…well there they are. My twins. Apparently they’ve been there for a while but were only recently found due to a CAT scan for something else. These little devils packed my ovary pretty tight, and as a bonus they found a benign tumor in there too, and most likely that’s what spawned these suckers. So the doctor took my right ovary and cauterized my fallopian tube.My hypothesis is these buggers may be the reason why we’ve been unsuccessful in trying to get pregnant these past 4 years. My left ovary is fine…so maybe? Or not? We’ll see I guess.
My stay at St. Peter’s was wonderful – from the intake desk to pre-op, recovery, and post-op everyone was so kind and professional. My doctor was so wonderful, and he made me laugh when he said he’d had his coffee and was good to go.
I’m relieved it’s finally over and recovery seems to be going well. I’m tired and my belly button area hurts, but to be up and walking around so soon after surgery is fantastic.
Thanks to everyone for the phone calls and well wishes. Thanks for the love. And huge thanks and love to my wonderful husband who was a champ through the whole thing and is spending his week taking care of me
Love you…
